Join ilimo on a majestic day trip to Mount Evans on this tour from Denver. Just a short 60 miles west of Denver, the summit features the highest paved road in all of North America. Standing tall at 14,271 feet elevation, Mt Evans is one of the most prominent peaks in the Rocky Mountains’ Front Range.
The first stop on our guided, scenic tour will be Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, the only acoustically perfect amphitheater in the world that’s naturally formed. Next, we will take a breathtaking drive through Clear Creek Canyon, which is known for its fast-flowing creek, steep canyon walls, and rich gold mining history. Next, we will stop for a bite to eat and have lunch at the historic town of Idaho Springs, which was once the center of the Pikes Peak Gold Rush.
After stopping in Idaho Springs for lunch, we will take the Mount Evans Scenic Byway and gain 7,000 ft of elevation and ultimately achieve a 14,130-foot elevation near the peak of Mount Evans. Along the way to the summit, we will stop at Echo Lake Lodge and Summit Lake. We will observe rocky mountain bighorn sheep, marmots, birds, mountain goats, and alpine wildflowers, all while taking in the spectacular views of alpine lakes, distant mountain peaks, and glacier valley.
