From Denver, CO
Mount Evans Tour Details
Join us on a magnificent day trip to Mount Evans from Denver, Colorado. Located only 60 miles west of Denver, the summit is accessible by the highest paved road in North America. Standing at 14,271 feet, it is considered one of the most prominent mountains in the front range of the Rocky Mountains.
Our first stop on our mountain tour will be Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, the only naturally-formed, acoustically perfect-amphitheater in the world. Next we will take a scenic drive through Clear Creek Canyon, known for its steep canyon walls, fast flowing creek, and rich gold mining history. Then we will stop for lunch at the historic town of Idaho Springs, once the center of the Pikes Peak Gold Rush.
After lunch, we will take the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, during which we will gain 7,000 ft of elevation from Idaho Springs and ultimately achieving a 14,130 ft elevation near the summit of Mount Evans. Along the way, we will stop at Echo Lake Lodge and Summit Lake. We will see rocky mountain bighorn sheep, mountain goats, marmots, birds and alpine wildflowers, all the while taking in the spectacular views of distant mountain peaks, alpine lakes and glacier valley.
